This Week in Reefing | Reef Builders

If you came out to Reefstock Denver or interacted with our social posts that weekend, THANK YOU!  It was exciting to see everyone again this year. From fans to vendors and reefing “celebrities,” it’s safe to say we had a blast.  Be on the lookout for more videos and podcasts from Reefstock Weekend! Let’s take a moment to appreciate, This Week In Reefing.

Poma Labs announced two new exciting breeding successes this week. The first is the Yellow-Ear Angelfish and the second is a unique accidental cross between the Regal Angel, Pygoplites diacanthus, and the Tiger Angel, Apolemichthys kingi. It’s STUNNING.

While in Denver for Reefstock we shot a lot of content at the Reef Builders Studio, including an update on the “Kitchen Sink” tank. It’s been growing in nicely and features some of Jake’s top acquisitions over the years including Lazy’s Blue Zing, a cross between an ORA Bird of Paradise and a standard ORA green birdsnest. The Manilla Spy, a fast-growing, thin branching, Montipora.  Also, one of my personal favorites, a grafted Turbinaria heronensis

After a long day of travel, the ladies of Reef Builders sat down for a wide ranging conversation about meat tenderizer, the importance of maintenance routine, failure points and so much more!

Salem set a record this week for, longest “Reef Recap” of all time, clocking in at just under 2 hours. It’s what happens when you’re under the weather and have nothing else to do but think about the reef-keeping hobby. This recap is THICK with science – Enjoy!

If you didn’t get a chance to make it to Reefstock Denver, consider joining us on the other side of the country in August at Reefstock Chattanooga!
