Welcome! My name is Jessica and I have been boarding Dachshunds, and small dogs, in my home for over 10 years.
I work from home, and only watch 1-2 Dachshunds at a time, so I can give your dog focused attention and spend plenty of time making sure they are having a good time.
I specialize in long-term stays. Some clients have stayed with me for up to 6 weeks at a time!
In addition to your dog’s stay in my home, you can add on services like hiking, camping, training, and pick up/drop off.
Your dog will maintain as much of their familiar routine as possible while away from home, including sleeping in my bed if that is the norm at your house.
I also love taking photos and videos so I sent my clients updates daily with plenty of each to keep or share on social media.
For more about why your Dachshund will enjoy their stay with me, and add-on options, please read on.

I would definitely leave my dogs with Jessica again; I like that she sent pictures of them and kept me posted on how they were doing.” – Maria L, Spot’s Mom
What Your Dog’s Stay is Like
When a Doxie stays with me in my home, they get treated as one of my pets.
I try to maintain as much of their normal routine as I can but I care for them alongside my two Dachshunds – Summit and Gretel – and they get treated just as good.
- I let your pup sleep in my bed if they are used to sleeping with you.
- I work from home so your Dachshund won’t be left alone for long periods and I can tend to their needs as they arise.
- I have a securely-fenced yard your dog can run and play in (supervised).
- I provide frequent potty breaks as often as needed when I am home.
- We cuddle in the evenings on the couch when we are not gone on adventure.
- I am patient and work with each dog’s personality to make sure their stay here, and interaction with other dogs in the house, is as fun as possible.
- Daily enrichment is provided in the form of games, walks, and short adventures around home.
- I observe your dog’s behavior and needs in an unfamiliar setting and provide a verbal report at the end of the stay.
Her home is catered to the ease and enjoyment of the dogs which is so amazing and definitely was appreciated. From start to finish, we loved our experience with Jessica!” – Ashley B, Tilly’s Mom
Included adventures
When your dog stays with us, they become a part of our family and enjoy the same lifestyle that my own dogs do.
For example, I run a big Dachshund club in Seattle called the Adventureweiner Club, and your dog may come with us to events.
I also try to walk my dogs for a minimum of 30 minutes at least 4 days a week. Your pup will go on these walks with us or I will walk them separately if needed.
I always check beforehand to make sure I have your permission for these “daily life” adventures, and make changes to my schedule if your dog doesn’t like riding in the car or meeting other people and dogs.
Add-ons to your dog’s stay
Although I love having a rotating cast of dogs visiting us, there are some things that require extra effort that can be added for an additional fee.
These include:
- Pick up and drop off service (book on Rover with your stay)
- Basic obedience training or reinforcing of behaviors
- half of full-day hikes
- Camping trips
If you’re interested adding hiking or camping to your dog’s stay, please email me at Jessica(at)pettalkmedia(dot)com before or after you book on Rover.

Why I’m Different
I started my own business back in 2012, specifically so I could spend more time with my Dachshunds.
Since then, I have spent thousands of hours studying the Dachshund breed, have grown this blog to one of the premier, trusted resources for Dachshunds on the internet, and founded the largest Dachshund social meetup club in Washington State.
I choose to specialize in Dachshunds because:
- I absolutely love the breed. I don’t think I could ever NOT have one of these cute, funny little dogs in my life.
- Dachshund owners just get other Dachshund owners. Dachshund owners treat their pets like family and worry sick when they are away from them. I get it and am cool with that. I’m happy to send as many pics and status updates as you want while you’re gone.
- I have over 20 years of experience with Dachshunds. I’m most comfortable around them.
- I understand the Dachshund personality. Dachshunds have very unique mannerisms and traits and not a lot of dog sitters in Seattle understand that.
- I have experience with IVDD, back injuries, and other medical needs of Dachshunds. I can provide care just for them just like you would at home.
My credentials include a 10-hour certification in pet first aid, a 3-hour off-the-grid dog first aid class, and 24 hour mountain oriented first aid for humans (a lot of this applies to dogs too.)
I live just outside of the Seattle area in the mountains of the Central Cascades with my husband and three miniature Dachshunds – Gretel, Summit, and Otter.
When I’m not kissing dogs or working, you’ll find me traveling, hiking, and camping with my Dachshunds.
