We get it, there are many saltwater nano tanks out there and since 10 gallons is quite popular, it is difficult to make a decision which is why we created this guide.
Lots of hours were spent researching tanks so you don’t have to, unless you love browsing the internet looking for tanks, creating excel tables, taking notes, making calls and reading reviews (yes, we did all of that!)
We hope you find this helpful so let’s get started!
Our Favorites
The Winner: Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion Pro 2 Series 10 Gallon Nano
The Minimalist: UNS Rimless Shallow Glass Aquarium Tank
The Modern: biOrb Tube 35 Aquarium with LED
The Affordable: Aqueon Rimless Rectangle Aquarium 10
This tank is our winner because the materials are of excellent quality and it comes with everything you need to get started. The 6mm glass is made of high clarity iron glass which is known to be brighter and transmit higher visible light than the standard clear glass.
They thought of everything with this tank like an emergency overflow to prevent accidents and damaging your floors. And for those fish that love jumping out of your tank like the Midas Blenny, the tank comes with a safe screen lid.
The setup wouldn’t be complete without a pump which is why it comes with a 15W/24V 326 GPH return pump sized well enough to do plenty of water changes per hour. In case you were looking for something extra to seal the deal, this tank also comes with a magnetic glass cleaner to keep it shiny without disturbing the fish.
Dimensions: 11.8 x 15 x 13 inches
We understand some people just like the simple and clean looks of things which is why we chose this tank. Its rimless look allows you to enjoy every inch of the aquatic life in your tank. To make the appearance this clear, the aquarium is crafted from 91% clarity Diamant glass which has a high transmission of light due to the low iron content.
In case you were worried about leaks, the glass is glued with high-grade German silicone which allows the 45-degree mitered edges to connect seamlessly. This type of construction results in an amazing panoramic view with tons of depth.
For this tank, we recommend the Fire Shrimp to show off its deep red color which makes it one of the most vibrant invertebrates.
Dimensions: 23.62 x 14.17 x 7.09 inches
This tank is 9.2 gallons so it is a bit shy of 10 gallons. This one is The Modern because of its not too usual cylindrical shape making it a 360° tank. We imagine placing this tank in a center table instead of against the wall like many aquariums, so anybody that walks by will be able to appreciate it from any angle.
Did you know acrylic is 10 times stronger than glass? Well, that is what you get this tank making it not only stronger but 50% lighter and 93% cleaner. It also comes with a True 5 stage filtration system which provides the following benefits:
- Biological
- Mechanical
- Chemical
- Water Stabilization
- Oxygenation
A Scoly Coral would look great in this tank due to its bright colors and small size with just 3-4 inches in diameter.
Dimensions: 16 x 16 x 14.5 inches
Affordable and great quality were our criteria when looking for the perfect tank in this category and we are glad we found it! This tank has a rimless top for a clean aesthetic so you can keep your focus on the the aquatic life. It is also quite sturdy with a support frame at the bottom to provide stability.
The exposed edges of the tank are polished and beveled to provide an elegant and finished look. If you will be placing fish that could jump out of the tank make sure to get the glass top which is sold separately.
We love the Clown Goby for 10-gallon tanks like this one since it only grows to 1.5 inches and you can find it in different colors like green, yellow, black and even panda bear looking!
Dimensions: 12.25 x 6.25 x 8.125 inches
10-Gallon Tank Filters
Now that you learned about our 10-gallon tank recommendations we could not let you go without a good filter for your aquarium.
Honestly, we wanted to recommend just one but the two we found are so good that we couldn’t decide so we added both 🙂
Tetra Whisper Power Filter
This one is so quiet that you could use it as white noise when going to bed. The carbon not only catches debris and reduces build up on glass, but it also removes odors so no more stinky tanks.
It uses a 3-stage filtration process and the only downside we found is that it does not fit well on small round tanks so if you liked The Modern, this filter would not work.
Marineland Penguin Bio-Wheel
What could be better than a filter called Peguin! This system mechanically filters water through a pad, then chemically filters water with an activated carbon that removes impurities, and finally a biological filtration that elimintes eliminates toxic ammonia and nitrite on contact (yes, 3 stages!).
You can find these filters in different sizes all the way up to 350 GPH. If you get this filter and hear some weird noises, it might be that the impeller is not fully seated in the impeller housing so you might need to pull it out and re-seat it firmly.
Wrapping Up
The Winner is definitely outstanding and our favorite because of the high quality materials but also for the extras that come with it. Price is not too bad specially if you have been doing this for a while, otherwise The Affordable is enough to get started.
